Franz Romero is a 20th century Swiss architect and designer specialized in interior design. His works remain little known to the general public, except for what has become a design icon: the Bugatti (the Bugatti Armchair) armchair .

He attaches great importance to quality of detail and the consistent implementation of the design concept. He studied architecture at Winterthur Technical College and ETH Zurich and completed his training at the Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies in New York. He presented his first furniture prototypes in 1982. He considers furniture design to be "micro architecture" and values the freedom restricted only by the anatomical elements.
