Jørn Oberg Utzon

Jørn Oberg Utzon was born a Danish architect born in 1918. In 1957, entry was announced winner of the international competition to design a ‘national opera house’ for Sydney’s Bennelong Point. His submission was one of 233 designs from 32 countries and after his work in the Sydney Opera House, he has completed other architectural projects such as the Can Lis in Majorca (1972), the Paustian Furniture Store in Copenhagen (1987) and Can Feliz in Majorca (1995). The principles behind his renowned Bagsværd Church (1976) in the suburbs of Copenhagen and his parliament building in Kuwait (1983). In 2003, Jørn Utzon was awarded the Pritzker Prize for Architecture, the highest award in its field. Utzon died at the age of 90 of a heart attack in his sleep after a series of operations in 2008.


The name Jørn Oberg Utzon is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trademark.
