| Short description 2 | Who inspired the initial name behind this now-modern, top-selling style masterpiece, in the first place? Well, see how this chair resembles an ANT, with its head raised, the bottom seat itself representing the ant’s rear area, just above its legs (which look similar to the legs of the chair as they are thin and lean outward instead of directly down)? And speaking of legs, did you also happen to notice that the ones seen here are of stainless steel with a small, black plastic-rubber base at the bottom to support them? This makes for a look that is simple, yet stylish, all at once. But more on the first prototype….The original piece created in the 1950s only had three legs, each fully made of plastic, and was remembered as such. It also had form-molded veneer, which was laminated, for its seat material. Only 300 chairs were ordered, and Fritz Hansen ensured their manufacturing. Later on, of course, the tubular steel you see here came to replace the plastic used for the legs. |
